Please read these carefully before your hire. They're here to keep everyone safe and the motorhome in great shape for every adventure.

Before you go

A few things to keep in mind

We want every hire to be a brilliant experience — for you, for future hirers, and for us. These rules are designed to keep the motorhome in top condition and ensure everyone has a safe, enjoyable trip.

By completing a booking with DIY Hire Sheffield, you agree to abide by all of the rules listed on this page. They form part of your hire agreement and will be reviewed with you during the handover briefing at pick-up.

Smoking & Vaping

  • Smoking and vaping are strictly prohibited inside the motorhome at all times.
  • Smoking is permitted outside the vehicle, away from open windows and doors.
  • Any evidence of smoking inside will result in full forfeiture of the security deposit and additional cleaning charges.

Pets

  • Well-behaved dogs are welcome — please let us know in advance when booking.
  • A maximum of 2 dogs are permitted per hire.
  • Pets must not be left unattended in the motorhome.
  • Any damage caused by pets will be charged against the security deposit.
  • Please bring your own pet bedding to protect the upholstery.

Occupancy & Drivers

  • Maximum occupancy is 7 guests as per the vehicle's berth capacity.
  • All drivers must be named on the hire agreement before departure.
  • Drivers must be aged 25 or over and hold a full, valid UK driving licence.
  • Drivers must have held their licence for a minimum of 2 years.
  • The motorhome must not be driven by anyone under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
  • No more than 2 named drivers per hire.

Travel & Location

  • The motorhome is insured for travel within the United Kingdom only.
  • Travel to the Republic of Ireland or mainland Europe is not permitted.
  • The motorhome must not be taken to motorsport events, race tracks, or off-road terrain.
  • Please notify us if you plan to travel to remote or highland areas of Scotland.
  • The motorhome must be parked on authorised campsites or legal overnight spots only.

Fuel & Returns

  • The motorhome will be provided with a full tank of diesel — please return it full.
  • Fuel costs for the hire period are the responsibility of the hirer.
  • The vehicle uses diesel only — misfuelling will result in full repair costs being charged.
  • The fresh water tank should be emptied and the waste water tank emptied before return.
  • The toilet cassette must be emptied and cleaned before return.

Pick-up & Drop-off

  • Pick-up is from 2:00pm on your start date at our Sheffield location.
  • Drop-off is by 10:00am on your final day.
  • Late returns will be charged at £50 per hour beyond the agreed return time.
  • Early pick-up or late drop-off may be available on request — please ask in advance.
  • A full handover briefing will be given at pick-up — please allow 45–60 minutes.

Cleanliness & Condition

  • The motorhome must be returned in a clean and tidy condition.
  • All crockery, cookware, and utensils must be washed and put away.
  • Bedding should be stripped and left folded — we will launder it between hires.
  • A cleaning charge of £75 will apply if the motorhome is returned in an unacceptable condition.
  • Please remove all personal belongings and rubbish before return.
  • Report any damage, however minor, before returning the vehicle.

Damage & Breakdowns

  • Any damage to the motorhome must be reported to us immediately — do not wait until return.
  • Minor accidental damage may be covered by the hire insurance — please check your policy.
  • Damage caused by negligence or misuse will be charged in full against the security deposit.
  • In the event of a breakdown, call our 24/7 roadside assistance number provided at handover.
  • Do not attempt repairs yourself — contact us first.
  • Windscreen chips and cracks must be reported immediately.

Security & Parking

  • The motorhome must be locked and secured whenever unattended.
  • Do not leave valuables visible inside the vehicle.
  • The motorhome must not be parked on private land without the landowner's permission.
  • Wild camping is permitted where legal — please follow Leave No Trace principles.
  • The vehicle must not be used as a permanent residence.

Prohibited Uses

  • The motorhome must not be sub-let or hired out to any third party.
  • Commercial use of the motorhome is strictly prohibited.
  • The vehicle must not be used for any illegal activity.
  • Towing of any trailer, caravan, or vehicle is not permitted.
  • The motorhome must not be used at festivals or events without prior written agreement.
  • Overloading the vehicle beyond its stated payload is prohibited.

Security Deposit

A refundable security deposit of £500 is required at the time of booking. This will be returned in full within 7 days of the motorhome being returned in good condition, with a full fuel tank, and in compliance with these house rules. Deductions may be made for damage, excessive cleaning, late returns, or breach of the hire agreement.
